Groupon is opening its platform to artificial intelligence agents, allowing them to search its deals and buy on a customer's behalf, as well as developers.
The Chicago company said the offering, which it is calling the Groupon AI Builder Pack, aims to take advantage of the growing presence of AI agents.
"The last several weeks are showing that we are nearing the next inflection of AI: the rise of personal AI agents," Chief Executive Dusan Senkypl said. "We believe agents will become the dominant pathway by which people discover, compare and buy local experiences."
With the offering, AI agents will be able to search and buy Groupon's deals, with Groupon handling checkout.
Developers, meanwhile, will be able to filter Groupon's catalog to create websites and apps featuring its deals built for specific niches or communities, and earn commission on purchases. For example, a user could create a website curating family activities or wellness deals, or a neighborhood club helping people discover nearby businesses, the company said.
Groupon is already inside OpenAI's ChatGPT as a plugin, and inside Anthropic's Claude as a connector.
