U.S. Initial Jobless Claims Rise to Highest Level in Nearly a Year
U.S. initial jobless claims rose to the highest level in nearly a year, further evidence that the labor market is slowing. Initial jobless claims rose by 14,000 to 249,000 in the week ended July 27, compared with market expectations of 236,000, data released Thursday by the U.S. Labor Department showed. Continuing jobless claims also rose to 1.88 million in the week ended July 20, the highest level since November 2021, it said.
