Vitalik responds to "Why doesn't the foundation stake ETH": Considering providing grants in a specific form

Vitalik responded to Jason Chen's question, "Why doesn't the Ethereum Foundation stake ETH and use the income to cover costs?" He said, "One internal reason is that we don't want to be forced into making an 'official choice' when a controversial hard fork occurs. An idea under consideration is offering some grants in the form of 'you can stake our ETH, you can choose how to stake it as long as it's ethical and maintains superiority.' Another way to address this issue is by spreading legality and resources more widely so multiple organizations are seen as credible representatives of Ethereum in people's eyes. In this regard, we're much better off than two years ago."
