Silver Price Outlook: XAG/USD surges past $80 as upward momentum continues
Silver Surges Beyond $80 Despite Strong Dollar and Treasury Yields
Silver (XAG/USD) has experienced a sharp upward rally, climbing over 5% and breaking past the $80.00 per troy ounce mark. This impressive ascent comes even as US Treasury yields rise and the US Dollar remains robust.
Ongoing geopolitical tensions have fueled further gains in precious metals. Additionally, growing speculation that the Federal Reserve may return to monetary easing later this year—prompted by signs of labor market weakness—has propelled silver to a fresh year-to-date peak of $81.43.
Technical Overview: XAG/USD
From a technical standpoint, bullish momentum continues to dominate silver’s price action. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has entered overbought territory, yet the intensity of the current rally suggests that the market may not be as overextended as the RSI alone indicates.
Should the RSI move above 80, silver could be considered significantly overbought. For now, while the uptrend appears stretched and a correction is possible, the prevailing direction remains upward.
- Resistance Levels: The immediate resistance is at today’s high of $81.44. If this level is breached, the next target is $82.00, followed by the all-time high at $85.87.
- Support Levels: A drop below $80.00 could trigger a deeper pullback, with initial support at the January 5 high of $77.88. If this level fails, the next support lies at $75.00.
