Europe Faces Critical Jet Fuel Shortage
Fatih Birol, the executive director of the International Energy Agency, announced on Thursday that Europe could run out of jet fuel within six weeks, making flight cancellations increasingly probable. During an interview with the Associated Press, Birol explained that ongoing conflict in Iran and resulting supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have triggered what he described as an unprecedented energy crisis.
He highlighted that prices for gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel have surged and are expected to keep climbing, especially since a lasting truce between the United States and Iran and the reopening of the strait appear unlikely in the near future.
