Glonghui, April 21 — According to CCTV Finance, the US government has officially initiated tariff refunds, but there is still considerable uncertainty as to whether enterprises can successfully receive the funds. Firstly, it should be noted that these tariff refunds are not distributed automatically. Companies must prepare materials themselves, including import records and proof of tariff payments, to calculate the refund amount they are entitled to. Analysts believe this process is particularly challenging for small and medium-sized enterprises. Due to a large amount of documentation and complex procedures, some companies with limited resources may be unable to submit complete applications, thereby missing out on refunds they should have received. Secondly, the refund process is being advanced in phases, with the first round covering only certain tariff items. The system will only fully process customs records that have not yet been settled or were settled within the past 80 days. According to a report published by Citi Research, Walmart is expected to receive about $10.2 billion in refunds, Target will obtain about $2.2 billion, and Nike $1 billion. Companies such as Kohl’s, Gap, and Macy’s may also recover several hundred million US dollars in refunds. Analysts point out that these refunds may not immediately be reflected in companies’ performance guidance, but in the next few quarters, they are expected to provide a one-time boost to the companies’ balance sheets.
