⑴ The Central Bank of Hungary stated that, compared with the March inflation report, the inflation trajectory in the June forecast has moved significantly lower. For the remainder of this year and into next year, the inflation rate will continue to be below the bank's 3% policy target, and even if price caps are immediately lifted, the inflation rate will not exceed the 3% target range.⑵ The central bank noted that, due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, corporate price hike expectations have risen slightly, but household inflation expectations have noticeably declined in recent months. The euro selling transaction mechanism related to coverage of energy imports will remain in place until June 30th, and any decision to continue such measures will be made based on the September inflation report.⑶ The central bank expects the Consumer Price Index increase for residents in 2027 to be 2.3%, which is lower than the previous forecast of 3.7%. The inflation rate for 2028 is expected to be 3.0%, consistent with market expectations in the previous forecast report.

(2) Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Le Minh Hoan, stated at a government meeting last week that the total installed capacity of these proposed projects exceeds 20 gigawatts, but only the Xi Fu LNG project is proceeding as planned. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Truong Quang Hoai, said at the same meeting that investors have been selected for 16 of the 18 projects, but only two projects have started construction. (3) Project delays threaten Vietnam’s plan to increase the proportion of LNG in its energy mix to 12% by 2030. The Ministry of Industry and Trade warned last month that, due to these delays, Vietnam may face a risk of power shortages next year.
