Moonbeam Begins GLMR Migration to Base Before July 31
- Moonbeam launched the GLMR migration with a July 31, 2026 bridge deadline.
- GLMR will become a native ERC-20 token on Base through a 1:1 swap.
- Moonbeam introduced a decentralized AI agent protocol alongside the network transition.
Moonbeam (GLMR) migration to Base has officially begun, marking a significant change for the Ethereum-compatible network. The project confirmed that GLMR holders can now bridge tokens through the official portal before the July 31, 2026 deadline. The move also introduces the new Moonbeam Protocol, designed for decentralized AI agent communication and on-chain settlement.
Moonbeam GLMR Migration Introduces New AI Focus
The Moonbeam GLMR migration will convert GLMR into a native ERC-20 token on Base through a 1:1 swap. According to the project, users who complete the migration will maintain their participation in the protocol after the transition.
Moonbeam said the move represents a strategic shift away from its long-standing role within the Polkadot ecosystem. The network plans to gradually wind down its existing blockchain while expanding its presence on Base.
Alongside the migration, Moonbeam unveiled the Moonbeam Protocol, a decentralized infrastructure that enables AI agents to discover services, negotiate tasks, and settle payments using verifiable on-chain proofs.
Moonbeam GLMR Migration Requires Action Before July 31
The Moonbeam GLMR migration requires self-custody holders to bridge their tokens before the July 31 deadline using the project’s official migration portal. Users holding GLMR on centralized exchanges generally do not need to take action, although they should monitor exchange announcements for migration timelines.
The team also advised users to withdraw assets locked in staking, lending markets, liquidity pools, or other DeFi applications before bridging. Any remaining assets on the Moonbeam chain could become inaccessible after the network eventually ceases operations.
Nova Wallet issued a similar reminder, urging holders with GLMR or other assets such as DOT and stablecoins on Moonbeam or connected parachains to transfer funds before the deadline.
