Analysis: Bitcoin long-term holders of over 5 years have recently been frequently moving BTC, with single-day UTXO changes exceeding 5,000.
Odaily reported that CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated that a significant increase in on-chain activity has recently been observed among Bitcoin’s oldest holders. Data shows that BTC holder groups with holding periods of 5 to 7 years and 7 to 10 years have seen their daily UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) movement repeatedly exceed 5,000 BTC.
Darkfost pointed out that UTXOs being spent does not necessarily mean selling; there are usually two main reasons why long-term holders move Bitcoin: first, for security reasons, such as changing wallet addresses, resulting in UTXOs being transferred from the original address; second, to sell assets. However, according to current on-chain data, there is no evidence of large amounts of funds flowing into exchanges, so it does not currently indicate that these long-term holders are selling BTC on a large scale.
It is worth noting that this activity occurred as Bitcoin retested the $60,000 level, similar to the market movement seen from February to March this year. The market will continue to monitor whether activity from long-term holders will further impact BTC supply and demand dynamics.
