The UK Office of Gas and Electricity Markets approves British Gas pilot program to reduce fixed charges

⑴ The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) in the UK has approved a limited exemption for British Gas Trading Limited, allowing it to enjoy special arrangements regarding the supply standard license condition 22B for electricity and gas. ⑵ This exemption is intended to support the "Fixed Lite" pilot tariff launched by British Gas, which aims to reduce household energy bill burdens by lowering fixed user fees. The pilot will be available to customers signing contracts between August 11, 2026, and August 10, 2027.
