Pump.fun [PUMP] posted a notable gain over the past day, crossing a double-digit percentage change, with data pointing to capital flow, particularly from the perpetual market, as the primary driver of the rally.

Across the centralized and decentralized venues where PUMP trades, traders pushed Open Interest up by roughly $40.83 million in fresh capital, bringing the total to $355.08 million at the time of writing.

Open Interest measures the capital committed to an asset’s perpetual market, with its movement indicating whether traders are taking on more long or short positions.

The condition is more of the former, with long capital dominating. The Funding Rate rose from roughly 0.0007% in the earlier hours of 12 September, growing nearly tenfold to around 0.0072%.

The significant surge suggests that the inflow of capital into the market, alongside the rising Funding Rate, implies that more of the fresh capital over the past day came from traders expecting a rally in the short term.

The whales are behind the push

Whales, categorized as investors who hold significant capital capable of influencing price, have stepped into the market.

Whale involvement, tracked through the Whale Retail Delta, points to a significantly high positive level, with a reading of 0.274.

When the Whale Retail Delta surges this high and remains positive, it implies that whales are key drivers of the rally and are playing a decisive role through their buying activity.

In addition to the whales’ outlook, there has been a noticeable surge in market sentiment, which gauges the overall investor outlook on a scale of -10 to 10.

Press-time data from CoinMarketCap puts the sentiment reading at 3.53, while the line tracking this metric tilts upward, meaning that market confidence is growing more bullish.

Whale involvement alongside bullish sentiment could strengthen the price outlook, especially in the short to near term.

Spot investors are buying

The outlook from Spot investors in the market has likewise been bullish at the time of writing.

Over the past 12 hours, cumulative net buying has exceeded selling during this period. Data from CoinGlass shows that Netflow reached -$1.13 million in the market.

A bullish outlook is marked when capital outflows exceed inflows in the market. Outflows show that more PUMP has moved into private wallets, suggesting that investors are expecting a bullish outcome.

Continued Spot buying could add to the overall price momentum, contributing to the asset’s surge that is presently being witnessed.

Final Summary

  • PUMP’s Open Interest surged by $40.83 million to $355.08 million, while the rising Funding Rate showed stronger long-side positioning.

  • Whale buying and negative Spot Netflow point to growing bullish Sentiment, supporting PUMP’s near-term price momentum.

Apple Pre-sale Tracker: iPhone 18 Pro Series Shows Weak Overseas Demand Signals, Duo Review Positive but Hardware Lags Behind

According to a survey by Jefferies, after the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, delivery wait times in the four major markets—the US, UK, Germany, and Japan—have shortened by 5 to 11 days compared to last year, with no wait time in the US. Given stable production capacity, this is a clear sign of weak demand. Although the China and Hong Kong markets have performed better against the trend, there are still suspicions of speculative stockpiling. The new foldable Duo has been praised for its software experience, but its $2,000 price tag comes with a 254-gram body and dual-camera setup, leaving its hardware lagging significantly behind Android competitors. Jefferies maintains an "underperform" rating, with a target price implying a 21% downside from the current level.
