Golden Ten Data reported on April 10 that Peter Cardillo, Chief Market Economist at New York Spartan Capital Securities, commented on the US March CPI report: "The key is core inflation, and this figure is actually slightly lower than expected, while overall inflation is higher than our expectations, especially year-on-year. Therefore, while these numbers are not particularly concerning at the moment, they have yet to fully reflect the impact of the energy crisis. Looking ahead, further increases in inflation are clearly to be expected, but the crucial signal that core inflation is below expectations indicates that energy prices will eventually pass through the entire system and be reflected later on. For now, however, inflation remains high and persistent."
