According to data released by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, during the statistical week ending October 27, speculative traders in crude oil reduced their net long positions in WTI crude oil by 6,616 contracts, bringing the current net long position down to 104,314 contracts. As an important indicator of market speculative sentiment, the reduction in net long positions in WTI crude oil to some extent reflects a decline in speculative capital's bullish confidence in the continued rise of international crude oil prices for that week. Such position changes are often linked to shifts in concurrent expectations of crude oil supply and demand, as well as fluctuations in geopolitical situations.
